Braves Hop Three Spots In Collegiate Baseball Poll
SAVANNAH, Ga. – The UNCP baseball team continued its ascension in the national rankings on Monday afternoon as the Braves used a perfect 5-0 week to creep up three spots to No. 13 in the latest top 30 poll by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.
The Braves (8-0) are one of four Peach Belt Conference teams included in the listing and join fifth-ranked Columbus State (6-0), seventh-ranked Francis Marion (4-2) and 18th-ranked Armstrong Atlantic (6-0) in the latest listing. Last week's top-ranked team, Mount Olive (5-1), dropped five spots to No. 6 after losing a 6-5 contest to Wingate.
The Black & Gold continued to hold steady at No. 8 in the College Baseball Lineup Top 30 rankings and join six other Southeast Region squads in that listing. Francis Marion (No. 2), Mount Olive (No. 13), Columbus State (No. 20), Armstrong Atlantic (No. 23), Limestone (No. 25) and Catawba (No. 26) are also included in that poll.
UNCP will be back in action again on Wednesday when the Braves pack up their show and head to Hartsville, S.C., for a midweek outing against Coker (4-5). First pitch has been set for 2 p.m. at Tom J. New Field.
