Braves Crack Super Region 2 Rankings, Debut At No. 9

INDIANAPOLIS – Days removed from closing out a perfect 3-0 road trip with a 23-20 victory at Newberry, UNCP made its debut in the NCAA Super Region 2 Rankings on Tuesday, checking in at No. 9 in the latest listing that has heavy influence on the eventual 24-team NCAA playoff field.

Top-ranked Delta State out of the Gulf South Conference tops the ranking, while South Atlantic Conference leader Mars Hill is second. GSC foes West Alabama and North Alabama are third and fourth, respectively, while fellow NCAA Independent North Greenville rounds out the top five. Valdosta State is sixth, Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference teams Albany State and Morehouse are seventh and eighth, respectively, and GSC member West Georgia rounds out the listing in 10th.

UNCP (7-2) will open up a regular season-ending two-game home stand on Saturday when it welcomes undefeated and seventh-ranked Winston-Salem State (9-0) to Grace P. Johnson for a 2 p.m. tilt. Saturday's game will mark UNCP Football's annual "Black Out" event with most of the fans in attendance expected to be donning black apparel.
