Daniels Named To Daktronics All-America Team

WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Senior Travis Daniels put an emphatic cap on a storied four-year career in the Black & Gold on Wednesday as the Washington native was one of four running backs nationwide to earn all-American honors from Daktronics.

Daniels, a second team selection, joined Texas A&M Kingsville's Jonathan Woodson on the second team, while offensive player of the year Jonas Randolph of Mars Hill and Hillsdale's Joe Glendening graced the first team squad. Daniels becomes the sixth all-American in the history of the UNCP football program, joining such former standouts as Caylon Hann, Justin Hinson, Hivera Green, Keith Broderick and Adam Deese. It is the fourth-straight year that UNCP has sent a football player to all-American honors.

UNCP's all-time leading rusher, Daniels established new program benchmarks this season for rushing attempts (292), rushing yards (1,631) and rushing touchdowns (15) and will exit Pembroke toting nearly every single game and career rushing record as well. Having played in 42 games during his 4-year career in the Black & Gold, Daniels carried the ball 571 times for 3,356 yards and 32 touchdowns. He currently ranks fifth, nationally, with 148.27 rushing yards per game this season and ranks ninth nationally with 169.55 all-purpose yards per game.

The team is sponsored by Daktronics, Inc., an acknowledged world leader in scoring, timing and programmable display system for virtually every sport at every level of competition. The team is voted on by the NCAA Division II members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (D2SIDA), with online nomination and voting process powered by ATHLETICSITE.COM.
