UNCP Struggles In Final Round Of PC Intercollegiate

CLINTON, S.C. – After an inauspicious opening round to the 2007 Men’s Golf season UNC Pembroke struggled to put shots together on the final day of the 14th annual Presbyterian College Intercollegiate as the Braves finished 16th at the par 72 Musgrave Mill Golf Course.

Andy Case and Chris Evans paced the Braves each carded an 82 in the final round. Evans had the low round for UNCP yesterday and finished the tournament with a 160 (78,82). Case finished just one stroke back for the tournament at 161 (79, 82).

Chris Helms recorded an 86 giving him a two-day total of 168. Andrew Wood (89, 91) finished with a 180 on the tournament and Matt Page (91) had to withdraw this morning due to illness.

Presbyterian’s Rob Varner scored a par on the first playoff hole to earn the individual crown. Varner carded a 74 on Tuesday to finish the tournament with a two-round total of 145.

Wofford’s Garrett Medeiros posted a 68 today to force the playoff after shooting a 77 on Monday. Jake Amos of Lander fired a 68 in the second round to finish third with a two-round total of 146. Amos had shot a 78 in the first round.

Georgia College & State earned the team title compiling a 598 (300, 298) over the course of the tournament. Host Presbyterian finished in second with a 600 (298, 302) and USC Upstate cumulated a 606 (307, 299) to finish third.
