UNCP In Second After Day One Of Rendleman Invitational

SALISBURY, N.C. – UNCP’s Chris Evans and Chris Helms each shot a 73 on day one to help lead the Braves into second place after the first round of the 2007 Richard Rendleman Invitational held at the par 71, 6,665 yard Country Club of Salisbury.

As a team Pembroke shot a 295, four strokes back of tournament leader USC Aiken. Matt Morrison posted a 74 to tie for 13th while Andy Case and Travis Marshall each carded 75’s to tie for 24th.

Presbyterian shot 296 as a team for third and Carson-Newman shot a 298 for fourth. Host Newberry tied with Georgia Southwestern for fifth at 299.

PC’s Ben Karns and GSW’s Johny Pagura recorded rounds of 69 for first place after round one. Aiken’s Jeff Goff posted a 70 for third place and four others tied for fourth.

Round two will be completed on Tuesday as the 18-team tournament comes to a close.
