Pembroke Tied For 14th At Rendleman Invitational

SALISBURY, N.C. – The UNCP men's golf team shot an opening round 306 at the 2010 Richard Rendleman Invitational hosted by Catawba on Monday finishing the round 23 strokes off the pace to tie for 14th with Lenoir-Rhyne College as Jonathan McCurry paced the Braves on the day with a four-over-par 75.

Parker Houston and Jordan Walor each posted a 76 at the par-71, 6,665-yard Country Club of Salisbury with teammates Carson Lanier (79) and Beau Thompson (85) tying for 61st and 84th, respectively, after round one.

Lander University holds the team lead after shooting a combined 283 with second-place Belmont Abbey three strokes back at 286. Queens University (Charlotte) sits in third with a 288, Georgia College & State is fourth with a 290 and North Greenville is in fifth after shooting a combined 291.

Lincoln Memorial's Eric Kennedy leads the individual competition after carding a four-under-par 67 with Lander's Davis Lee nipping at his heels in second with a 68. Five other golfer are tied for third at two-under.

The Braves will finish the final round tomorrow, weather permitting.
