Walor Qualifies For U.S. Amateur
DURHAM – Defending PBC Championship
medalist and UNCP golf team member Jordan
Walor earned a spot in the 2010 U.S. Amateur
Championship on July 22nd after he shot a two-round
total of 141 to earn one of six spots available at the qualifying
tournament at Old Chatham Golf Club in Durham, N.C.
The Wake Forest native worked through the par-72, 7,210-yard
course with a four-under score of 68 during the first round and a
one-over score of 73 during the second round.
The 2010 U.S. Amateur will be held August 23-29 at Chambers Bay
Golf Course in University Place, Washington on Puget Sound and a
total of 312 golfers will participate in the tournament.
Following two days of stroke play (August 23- 24), the field of
312 players will be reduced to the lowest 64 scorers, who will
advance to match play. All matches are scheduled for 18 holes
except the final match. The scheduled 36-hole championship final
match is Sunday, August 29.
Past champions of the tournament include Bobby Jones, Phil
Mickelson, Justin Leonard and Tiger Woods.
