Walor, Braves Atop SE Preview Leaderboard After Round Two

CLEMMONS – No. 15 UNCP cut eight strokes off its opening round to move up three spots into a tie for first overall following the second round of the 2011 Will Wilson Southeast Preview in Clemmons on Monday.

The Braves tied the fifth-best round in school history with a 284 on the second 18 and the stellar second round moved them from fourth overall on the team standings into a tie for the top spot on the team leaderboard with Wingate at 16-over-par. UNCP's second round ties the second round score at the 2009 State Farm Laker Invitational in the school's record books.

Senior Jordan Walor carded his second-consecutive 69 to take a one-stroke lead over the 50-person field. Walor is the only golfer in the field to shoot under par in both rounds thus far in the tournament.

Fellow senior Jonathan McCurry moved up four spots into a tie for 13th overall after he took two strokes off his first round score with a 71 on day two. Carson Lanier matched his 75 from the opening round and, despite not lowering his score, moved up four spots from a tie for 25th overall to a tie for 21st overall on the par-70 Championship Course at Tanglewood Golf Club.

Scott Lambert made the biggest jump of the day after taking a whopping 14 strokes from his 83 on the first day to shoot a 69 during the second round. His one-under-par second day moved him from a tie for 47th overall to a tie for 28th.

Sophomore Ian Locklear stumbled a bit on day two with an 83 after opening the event with a 75 on Sunday. He is currently in a tie for 44th overall.

The event will conclude with Tuesday's final round.
