Golf's Jordan Walor Named UNCP Student-Athlete Of The Week

PEMBROKE – Having registered a dominant performance in leading the UNCP men's golf team to the team championship at the Clayton State-hosted Laker Intercollegiate last week in Hampton, Ga., senior Jordan Walor has been named this week's UNCP Student-Athlete of the Week, athletic department officials announced Monday.

Walor, a Wake Forest native, paced the field in all three rounds of the event at the par-72, 7,202-yard Crystal Lake Golf & Country Club. The senior carded an opening-round 69 on Monday morning, registered a 73 in Monday's second round, and then tallied a tournament-low 68 in the final round to out-distance West Georgia's Zach Lasseter by four strokes.  The output led the Braves to their first team title of the season, while Walor the seventh individual championship of his career. Walor also took home individual medalist honors at the Honda of Columbia Fall Classic earlier this season.

The two-time all-American continues to lead the Peach Belt Conference with a 71.0 stroke average through four events. Walor has logged a 72.6 career stroke average in 88 rounds of golf in the Black & Gold. He has registered 24 career finishes inside the top 20, including 14 tournaments in which he has finished inside the top five. He was awarded Peach Belt Conference Men's Golfer of the Week laurels for the fourth time in his career on Wednesday.
