Pullin Grabs PBC Player Of The Week Laurels

AUGUSTA, Ga. – For his efforts in helping UNCP turn in a pair of victories against league competition last week, sophomore forward Andy Pullin has been named the Peach Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the PBC office announced Tuesday afternoon.

A starter in both outings, Pullin netted a pair of goals and as many assists in pacing the Braves to home wins over both USC Aiken (7-1) and Georgia Southwestern (2-1, 2 OT). The Guatemala native did most of his damage in UNCP’s rout of the Pacers, booking a pair of goals, including the game-winner, while also tallying an assist on the Black and Gold’s second goal of the contest as well. On Saturday, Pullin proved lethal again, cashing in on a 36th minute strike in keying Pembroke’s clutch victory over the visiting Hurricanes.

Currently sitting atop the PBC leaderboard in points scored (25), Pullin has scored at least one point in five of UNCP’s last six outings, including goals in four of those contests. He is also tied for first among league leaders in shots (43) and goals (10).

Pullin and his UNCP teammates will continue a four-game home stand on Thursday when the Braves (7-5-1, 3-2-0 PBC) suit up to battle defending PBC champion Francis Marion (6-3-3, 1-1-2) in a 5 p.m. marquee match-up at Varsity Grounds. Admission to all 2009 UNCP Soccer home games is free.
