NSCAA Regional Rankings Tabs Braves Seventh

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – With a perfect 4-0 start to the regular season, the UNCP men's soccer team appeared in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Southeast Region Rankings at No. 7 on Tuesday.

The Braves dropped one spot from last week as Anderson (S.C.) moved from seventh place last week into the sixth spot. Peach Belt Conference preseason favorite Clayton State topped the list for the second week in a row with a record of 4-1-0, while Montevallo, Mars Hill, Barton and Lander rounded out the top five.

The result marked the first time in seven years that UNCP has started its season with four wins. The Braves, amid their march to the NCAA Final Four, began the 2004 campaign with five-straight victories. Over the week, the Black and Gold posted a 4-0 shutout over Mount Olive on Wednesday before capturing its most lopsided victory in 25 years with a 10-1 rout of host Chowan on Saturday

UNCP will continue on the road as its battles Brevard (0-3-1) on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Eagle Field on the campus of Winthrop in Rock Hill, S.C. UNCP and Brevard will meet for the first time on Tuesday in the series between the two schools.
