Men’s Soccer Releases 2012 Schedule

PEMBROKE – Nine home games, as well as three outings against teams that made appearances in the 2011 NCAA Tournament, highlight the 17-game 2012 men's soccer schedule released on Friday afternoon by head coach Phil Hindson.

"Our spring season was very challenging which allowed us to build confidence and belief in the team," said Hindson. "It also showed what this team is capable of and the fall schedule is difficult, but we are all looking forward to it."

UNCP will open up its 2012 campaign on the road against Mount Olive on August 31 before opening up its two-game home stand on a September 1 battle against the South Atlantic Conference champion from last season Anderson (S.C.), before taking on Wingate at Varsity Grounds and then closing out the week with the start of Peach Belt Conference action against Georgia Southwestern.

The Braves will be welcomed home again on September 15 when they host PBC foe Montevallo for a rematch from last season in the semifinals of the conference tournament. The Black and Gold will take on Brevard in a neutral matchup at Winthrop on September 17 before returning to Pembroke to host Clayton State and Barton.

A three-game PBC contest will open up action in October with Lander (Oct. 3), Francis Marion (Oct. 10) and North Georgia (Oct. 13) at Varsity Grounds. The Braves will close out home action with Young Harris, the newest addition to the PBC on October 20 at 3 p.m.

The Braves wrap up the 2012 regular season on the road on October 24 when they travel to USC Aiken in Aiken, S.C.
