MOUNT OLIVE – Junior Martin Tomter delivered the UNCP men's soccer team the first victory of the season against region rival Mount Olive, 3-0, after scoring within the first seven minutes of the game on Thursday evening at Amon Field.
Tomter sent the ball flying into the back-left corner of the net after winning the duel inside the box, which put UNCP (1-0-0) ahead for the remained of the game. Senior captain Sean Hoek knocked in the final two goals of the game. Hoek scored off a header from the front of the goal in the 32nd minute on the assist from senior Michael Smith sending the Braves into halftime with a 2-0 lead.
