Eubanks Posts Top-5 Finishes in Final Day Of CCU Shamrock Invitational
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Senior Maurice Eubanks posted three top-5 finishes in the final day of competition for the Braves at the Coastal Carolina Shamrock Invitational held at Myrtle Beach High School's Doug Shaw Stadium on Saturday.
Eubanks and Karlos Jordan finished fifth and sixth, respectively, in the 100m dash preliminaries on Friday before competing in the finals on Saturday. Eubanks posted a time of 10.69 seconds to place second while Jordan finished 10th with a time of 10.84 seconds. In the 200m dash, Eubanks finished third with a time of 21.15 seconds, while Jordan posted a season-best time of 21.37 seconds for a fifth place finish.
The 4x100m relay team (Jameel Joyner, Jordan, Malcom Jones, and Eubanks) took home a fifth place finish with a time of 41.96 seconds. Jon Williams posted new personal records in the 200m and 400m dash with times of 22.37 seconds and 50.24 seconds, respectively.
Pardon Ndhlovu cut nine seconds off his previous time and season best to finish the 5000m run with a time of 14:48.12 for a first place finish on Friday and continued his efforts on Saturday in the 800m run with a time of 1:54.37 for a new personal best. Freshman Chris Schroll finished 11th in the 5000m run with a time of 15:16.99 while setting a new personal best in the 3000m run with a time of 8:59.79.
AJ Davis Jr. posed a new personal record by three meters in the hammer throw with a mark of 44.17m on Friday and continued his efforts in the discus throw and shot put with marks of 39.61m and 12.56m, respectively. Duane Thompson finished second in the long jump with a jump of 6.50m and competed in the triple jump with a mark of 12.28m.
The men's track and field team will continue competition next weekend when the Braves compete at the Weems Baskins Invitational on Saturday.
