Braves Wrap Up Final Day At CCU Shamrock Invitational

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The UNCP men's track and field team concluded competition at the CCU Shamrock Invitational on Saturday in the final day of the meet as Jon Williams clinched new personal bests and Pardon Ndhlovu finished in the top-10 in the 3000m run.

Williams dropped time in both the 200m and 400m dashes to lead the Braves in both events. In the 200m dash, he finished 24th with a time of 21.99 seconds, while Shaquille Ray followed with a time of 21.77 seconds for a 32nd place finish. Williams placed 19th in the 400m dash with a time of 49.21 seconds as Jameel Joyner also notched a new personal best with a time of 50.59 seconds.

Ndhlovu was the highest placed finisher for UNCP with a fourth place finish (8:39.82) in the 3000m run, while Zach Bayless also finished in the top-10 with a time of 9:24.00.

AJ Davis Jr. wrapped up his second day of competition with a 27th place finish in the shot put for a new personal record with a throw of 13.28m and a 23rd place finish in the discus throw with a mark of 40.80m.

The men's track and field team will continue competition next weekend when the Braves compete at the Weems Baskins Invitational on Saturday.
