Braves Stay Put At Second In Latest USTFCCCA Region Poll

NEW ORLEANS – After a third place finish at the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Championships, the UNCP men's track and field team was ranked second in the region rankings of the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for the fourth consecutive week on Tuesday.

Mount Olive still leads the region in first, while the Black and Gold trail in second with King, Mars Hill, Wingate, Columbus State, Anderson (S.C.), Lees-McRae, Limestone and North Greenville following in order.

Freshman Shaquille Ray posted a new personal best in the 100m dash preliminaries with a time of 10.78 seconds to rank third individually in the region, while junior Jon Williams is third individually posted a new personal best time of 21.75 seconds in the 200m dash.

The 4x400m relay team of D'Andre Weaver, Jameel Joyner, Nick Tamburo and Williams moved into seventh in the event with a time of 3:21.95 to post the best time this season in the event.

Senior AJ Davis Jr. captured a third place individual ranking in the discus throw with a personal record mark of 41.61m.

The men's track and field team has concluded their season with a select few athletes continuing competition at Campbell Irwin Belk Open on April 28 and Ndhlovu competing at Penn Relays on Thursday.

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) is the non-profit professional organization that represents men's and women's cross country and track & field coaches in the United States.
