Ndhlovu Named PBC Runner Of The Week

AUGUSTA, Ga. – UNCP sophomore Pardon Ndhlovu has been named the Peach Belt Conference's Runner of the Week for the first time this season, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

Ndhlovu, a Zimbabwe native, broke his own school record with a time of 24:28.7 in the 8K run to lead the UNCP men's cross country team to a first-place finish at the Augusta State Tri-Meet in Augusta, Ga. Ndhlovu, who broke a 22-year old school record last season and matched the same mark of 24:35 last week, crossed the finish line first to break the mark he has registered twice.

This is the fourth time Ndhlovu has won the award during his UNCP career. He earned the honor on three occasions last season en route to an all-American performance at the 2009 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships.

UNCP will return to action on November 6 when it heads to the Peach Belt Conference Championships at Blanchard Woods Park in Evans Ga. The men's 8K race is set to begin at 9 a.m.
