Clancy, Ndhlovu Named to PBC All-Academic Team

AUGUSTA, Ga. – UNCP's Kevin Clancy and Pardon Ndhlovu have been named to the men's cross country all-academic team released by the Peach Belt Conference office on Thursday afternoon.  Clancy and Ndhlovu are among eight given the all-academic status for the current cross country season for their efforts in the classroom and on the cross country course.

Clancy's 3.87 grade point average was the second-highest among the individual honorees. He is one of the top-5 runners for the Braves, landing himself into the record books earlier this season with a time of 26:00 in the 8K run at the Augusta State Tri-Meet.

Ndhlovu maintains a 3.33 GPA to land himself among the list of honorees. The business law major is the top runner for the Braves. He was named Runner of the Week last week by the PBC for his performance in the Augusta State Tri-Meet in which he broke his own school record with a time of 24:28.7 in the 8K run to lead the Black and Gold to a first place finish. He currently holds seven of the top-10 times in school history.

Georgia College had three runners grace the list while Flagler, Columbus State and Armstrong Atlantic had one runner each to complete the team.
UNCP will return to action on November 6 when it heads to the Peach Belt Conference Championships at Blanchard Woods Park in Evans Ga. The men's 8K race is set to begin at 9 a.m.

The team is part of a season-long program recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of PBC student-athletes in the classroom as well as on the field. To be eligible for the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must 1) participate in at least half of his/her team's events and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and 3) completed at least one full academic year at his or her current institution. The Peach Belt Conference Sports Information Directors oversee and select the teams.
