Golfs Katja Dammann Named UNCP Athlete Of The Week
PEMBROKE – After leading the UNCP Lady
Braves to a team title and earning an individual runner-up finish
at the Falcon Cup on Tuesday, UNCP senior golfer Katja
Dammann has been named this week's UNCP Athlete of the Week,
athletic department officials announced Monday.
Dammann led the Lady Braves with a 146 (+6) score over the two-day
Falcon Cup, placing her second overall and just three strokes off
the individual lead to help the Lady Braves win the tournament by
two strokes over Newberry. Dammann's second-round score of 71 was
the lowest round score other than winner Ashley Denton of Wingate,
who carded a 69 in the second round of the tournament. The win by
UNCP was their second tournament victory in the history of the
program.
A three-year member of the UNCP golf team, Dammann has registered
10 top-5 finishes over her career, including a pair of tournament
titles. She finished last season with a 78.9 stroke average en
route to first team all-Peach Belt Conference accolades.
