Lady Braves Tied For First After Day One Of Pirate Invitational
SAVANNAH, Ga. – Sophomore Shauna Walor carded a round of 78 (37-41) to help UNCP to a first round score of 321 as the Lady Braves sit in a tie for first alongside Peach Belt Conference foe Flagler after the opening day of the Armstrong Atlantic Pirate Invitational at the par-72, 5,844-yard Savannah Quarters Country Club.
Walor sits one-stroke back of Flagler's Maria Alstrom in the individual standings after round one, but is two strokes ahead of teammate Meghan Moore who carded an opening-round 80 (40-40) on Sunday and is currently tied for fifth on the individual leaderboard. Dana Watkins carded an 81 (40-41) to settle into a tie for 10th place, Kelly Sumner is tied for 13th after a Sunday round of 82 (39-43) and senior Katja Dammann is tied for 22nd after shooting 85 (41-44).
UNCP and Flagler sit four strokes ahead of fellow PBC foe Armstrong Atlantic who is third place after an opening-round 325. USC Beaufort (330) and Columbus State (331) round out the top five, while PBC rival North Georgia (376) is eighth in the nine-team field.
Monday's final round of the tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
