No. 11 Lady Braves Selected To Play In NCAA Super Regional Two

INDIANAPOLIS – The 11th-ranked UNCP women's golf team was among 36 teams selected on Monday afternoon to compete in the 2012 NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championships, marking the second-straight year that the Lady Braves have earned their ticket to the postseason.

The NCAA Division II Women's Golf Super Regional Two tournament will take place, May 6-8, at the Stonebrook Golf Course in Pace, Fla., with the University of West Florida serving as the host institution. The event will consist of 54 holes of competition.

The Black & Gold was the lone Peach Belt Conference squad selected for postseason play, although two other league teams will be represented by individuals at the event. Armstrong Atlantic's Jenna Birch and Kimesha Anthony of Columbus State have both been invited to participate, as well as Mount Olive's Valentina Urquiola and Carson-Newman's Erica Ray.

Eight other teams will compete at the event, including top-ranked Nova Southeastern, No. 2 Florida Southern, No. 3 Lynn, No. 6 Rollins, No. 8 Barry, No. 9 Newberry, No. 13 Saint Leo and No. 21 Tusculum.

The top three teams, along with the top three individuals not with an advancing team from each super regional, will advance to the national championship round. The 2012 NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championships will be held May 16-19 at Persimmon Ridge Golf Course in Louisville, Ky.
