20 Questions With Wrestling's Mike Williams

UNCPBraves.com sat down with junior wrestler Mike Williams to learn of his opinion on a variety of topics ranging from his dream job to how he wants to be remembered when he leaves Pembroke. The following 20 questions are a part of a continuing feature at your official Internet home for UNCP athletics.

The Plainfield, N.J., native has a 10-1 overall record so far this season and is a perfect 8-0 against NCAA Division II opponents. Williams has a 6-1 tournament record with a 1-0 dual meet record winning his match in UNCP's only home dual this season against Belmont Abbey. He has tallied four pins, as well as three major decisions. Williams tallied a perfect 5-0 run at the Davidson Open en route to the 165-pound tournament championship. After pinning two opponents and majoring two others, he won by an 8-1 decision in his final match up. 

Since starting his career at UNCP, Williams has tallied two all-American honors and captured championship honors at the NCAA Super Region I Tournament, as well as a seventh place finish at the 2009-10 NCAA Division II Championships. He placed first at the NCAA Super Region I Tournament as well, and followed it up with a fifth place finish at the 2010-11 NCAA Division II Championships.

My Hometown Is Most Famous For: Probably for being the hometown of Milt Campbell, who became the first African American to win the gold medal in the decathlon of the Summer Olympic Games, and music greats George Clinton and the Parliament-Funkadelics. 

What I Love Most About UNCP: The small student body atmosphere.

I Came To UNCP Because:
It was a smaller campus therefore you could get more individual attention as a student.

My Advice To Youngsters Would Be: Do what you need to, not what you want to.

What Is One Thing You Want To Happen Before You Leave UNCP?: Win a national title.

How Do You Want People At UNCP To Remember You?: As someone who lived life to the fullest.
