20 Questions With UNCP Senior Midfielder Faye Corbett
I Came To UNCP Because: Of the coach. Since he's from the same country as me, Sweden, it's nice to be able to talk in Swedish with him. I also look super cute in black and gold!
Talent I'd Like To Have: I wish I could cook. I have gotten better though. It went from not being able to make Ramen Noodles, to actually being able to make meatballs - not from scratch of course. I meant buy the already-made meatballs and put them in a pan, without burning them!
The Celebrity I'd Love To Hang Out With For A Night: Michael Owen! I had a major crush on him growing up and I guess you never forget your first love. I could probably learn a lot from him. He was a great player until he started playing for Newcastle. Newcastle just stinks period.
The Thing I Enjoy Most About Game Day: Everything, but obviously the thing I enjoy the most is actually playing the game. We have a great atmosphere among the team on game days and we have so much fun!
Favorite Fast Food Joint: McDonalds, not the food but I am OBSESSED with their frappes and their new smoothies.
Best Player I've Faced: The best players I know have always been on my team.
Favorite TV Show: Jersey Shore, I don't know what my Thursdays are going to be like now when they don't have it anymore!
This Is How Many Text Messages I Send Daily: Too many, especially in class. I know it's bad but it makes time go by faster.
Best Beach: Panama City Beach. I went there with some of my teammates last Spring Break and we had the time of our lives.
Game Day Superstition: I have so many and some of them are embarrassing but I will share a few; I have to skip the first cone during the last part of our warm-up. I can't double knot my shoes, so I have to re-tie them all the time during games. I also have to hold Sheena's hand during the national anthem. They are all stupid but my mind will just obsess if I don't do it.
What Do You Miss Most About Home?: My family. They mean the world to me and I was blessed with the best parents in the world. My mom is my best friend and my dad is my hero. I wish they both could be here to see me play. My dad never missed a game when I played back home and he is my biggest supporter. I can, without a doubt, say that my dad is the main reason I made it this far. Even though he can't be here to watch me play, I know he is watching live stats back home in Sweden and yelling at the computer for me to run faster!
What Is A Fear You Have That Most People Don't Know About?: I don't really have any big fears, but I don't like bugs. I'm not really scared of them, I just hate them with a passion!
Who Is The Best Prankster On Your Team?: Probably me! We usually team up against a selected few team members (Rebecca and Andrea). It's fun and they fall for it every time!
Favorite Song To Work Out To: I have a workout play list on my iPod and it has everything on it. I get bored quickly with songs so I change it often.
My Motto Is: I have two sayings I live by - La Vita Bella and Para Siempre. Only my best friends know what they stand for!
What Is The Most Important Thing You've Learned While Playing At UNCP?: I have learned so much playing at UNCP. I think I have grown up a lot as a player and as a person. I went from almost not being eligible to having straight A's. The women's soccer program is lucky to have a great coaching staff. Coach Andersson and coach Privitera have played an important role in my life these last four years.
What I Love Most About UNCP?: I love my team and my Kappa Delta sisters more than anything. They are my family away from home and I would be lost without them.
My Advice To Youngsters Would Be: Enjoy life because time goes by too fast. You only live once!
What Is One Thing You Want To Happen Before You Leave UNCP?: I want us to go to nationals again. We did it in 2008 and I would love to experience that again. I think we have a chance even though we have been the "underdogs" all year and no one believed in us except our coaches. I guess we proved them all wrong and we are going to keep showing everyone how good we are.
How Do You Want People At UNCP To Remember You?: I want them to remember me as Faye the crazy girl, because that's who I am :)
