Soccer’s Rebecca Womack Named UNCP Athlete Of The Week

PEMBROKE – After playing a gigantic role in two wins for the UNCP women's soccer team last week, including a victory over Peach Belt Conference rival North Georgia, junior forward Rebecca Womack has been named this week's UNCP Athlete of the Week, athletic department officials announced Monday.

Womack, a Thomasville native, registered 12 shots, three goals and an assist on the week, netting both game-winning scores in home victories over Catawba and North Georgia. She began the week with two goals and an assist in the midweek victory over the Indians, and then lifted the Lady Braves to a win on Senior Day by scoring the Golden Goal in the 107th minute against the Saints. Of her 12 shots on the week, six were on target.

Womack has played in 49 games during her UNCP career with all 13 of her career starts coming this season. She has tallied 29 points during her three-year career in the Black and Gold, including career bests in both goals (7) and assists (4) this season. She also has three game-winning goals in 2010.
