Forsman Earns Second-Consecutive Defensive Player Of The Week Award

AUGUSTA, Ga. – After spearheading a UNCP defense that allowed just one goal during last week's 2-0-1 stretch, UNCP defender Fanny Forsman has been named the Peach Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.

Forsman led a defense that allowed just one goal over three games, including a pair of 1-0 victories during the weekend. The Lady Braves' defense held No. 14 Columbus State scoreless on Friday to claim their first win over the PBC preseason favorite since 2005 and they limited the West Georgia Wolves to just nine shots on Sunday in Carrollton, Ga. The Lady Braves' defense has now allowed just one goal through five games and has held their opponents to just 0.20 goals per game and a .015 shot percentage.

This is the second-consecutive award for Forsman after earning the same award last week.

She and teammates Andrea Collèn and Britney Bennett swept the PBC weekly awards this week after Collèn was named the league's Offensive Player of the Week and Bennett was named the Goalkeeper of the Week.

No. 15 UNCP closes out its seven-game road trip to start the season this weekend when it takes on North Georgia in Dahlonega, Ga., on Saturday before making its first ever trip to Young Harris, Ga., for a matchup with the Young Harris Mountain Lions on Sunday.
