McDowell, Davis Post Top Finishes At Roanoke/Virginia Tech Last Chance
SALEM, Va. – Jessica McDowell came within .01 meters of tying her own school record in the long jump, while fellow senior Katherine Davis registered a top mark in the hammer throw, to highlight action for the UNCP women's track & field team at the Roanoke College/Virginia Tech Last Chance on Thursday evening at Homer Bast Track.
Both have already both registered NCAA Provisional Qualifying marks in each respective event, but were unable to improve their standing on the qualifying lists. Davis's throw of 52.72m in mid-March at the Coastal Carolina Shamrock Invitational still stands as her personal best, while McDowell's school record leap of 5.69m remains as her personal and school record as well.
Both marks registered by the duo on Thursday fell above the NCAA Provisional Qualifying standards as well.
The Lady Braves will be back in action again on Sunday when they head to Chapel Hill for the Carolina Qualifier at UNC's Fetzer Track.
