UNCP Grabs Top-15 Finishes At Wofford College Terrier Relays

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The UNCP women's track and field team captured all top-15 finishes in the only day of competition at the Wofford College Terrier Relays as the distance medley team registered a first place finish to highlight competition for the Lady Braves.

The distance medley team competed for the first time this season with a time of 13:09.19, while the 4x800m relay team finished second overall with a time of 9:47.32 for the first time this season.

Freshman Hana Metzinger collected three personal bests alongside two second place finishes with one in the discus throw with a mark of 39.21m and in the javelin throw with a throw of 34.18m. Metzinger finished 10th overall in the shot put with a mark of 9.14m behind junior Diricka Mitchell with a fourth place finish with a throw of 11.00m.

Freshman Jazmiene Brown registered a personal best in the 200m dash with a time of 25.89 seconds for a first place finish, while Icess Booker and Damita Ford finished second and third, respectively. Micheal Rhaney grabbed a seventh place finish in the race with a time of 27.61 seconds.

Booker notched a second place finish in the 100m dash with a time of 12.59 seconds, while Ford posted a personal best with a time of 12.76 seconds for a fourth place finish.

Taliqua Medley, Shirley Ariwodo and Detria Smith each competed in the 100m hurdles and 400m hurdles for the first time in their careers. Medley grabbed a seventh place finish in the 100m hurdles with a time of 16.40 seconds along with a time of 1:14.63 seconds in the 400m hurdles for an eighth place finish.

In the 1500m run, Annette Sem finished second in with a season best time of 5:01.77, while freshman Kendra Dorn finished fourth with a time of 5:06.78. Julie Sem and Blair Long took home seventh and 10th place finishes, respectively, in the 5000m run.

The 4x100m relay team competed for the first time this season and posted a time of 49.05 seconds for a third place finish, while the 4x400m relay team registered a season best time of 4:09.25 for a fourth place finish.

The women's track and field team will continue competition on Friday when the Lady Braves travel to Charlotte to compete in the Johnson C. Smith Invitational.
