Mahaffie, Doughty Compete At Campbell Irwin Belk Open
BUIES CREEK – Distance runners Livia Mahaffie and Ashlee Doughty were the only athletes from the UNCP women's track and field team to compete in the debut meet on the new track at the Campbell Irwin Belk Open on Saturday afternoon.
Mahaffie recorded a new season best in the 1500m run with a time of 4:55.59 as she was two seconds behind the first place finisher to finish second overall. Doughty followed in third place with a time of 5:01.09 for the second-best performance of her career in the race.
The women's track and field team has concluded their season with a select few athletes continuing competition at Duke Twilight on May 6.
