Laza Named PBC Specialist Of The Week
AUGUSTA, Ga. – UNCP senior libero Andrea Laza has been named the Peach Belt Conference’s Specialist of the Week for volleyball, it was announced Monday by the league office, for her efforts this past week in three conference matches.
Laza set the PBC record for career digs against Flagler and now stands at 2,261 digs for her career. She tallied 28 digs against Francis Marion on Wednesday, her 49th career match with 20 or more digs and recorded three service aces on the week, including two against Flagler on Friday. She also had two kills against the Saints.
The Cary, N.C., native averaged 3.91 digs per set over the week and is currently averaging 3.80 digs per set on the season. Laza is currently sixth in the conference in digs, breaking the record of 2,248 held by Francis Marion's Jessica Strader since 2006.
UNCP will take on Flagler this Friday at the 2009 PBC Tournament at the Convocation Center in Aiken, S.C. This will be the third meeting between the two schools with the Saints having won the previous two contests.
