Morgan Named To Volleyball Preseason All-Conference Team

AUGUSTA, Ga. – UNCP outside hitter Rebecca Morgan, was named to the Peach Belt Conference Volleyball Preseason All-Conference Team, the conference office announced Thursday. The team is chosen by the league's head coaches.

Morgan, a Pennsylvania native, was one of six hitters named to the team after being named second team all-PBC in 2010. Last season was her first year with the Lady Braves after transferring from Hagerstown Community College. She started 29 of 32 matches and played 102 sets for the Black and Gold. The senior was ranked fifth in the PBC with a team-best 301 kills as well as ranking 13th in the league with a .271 hitting percentage. She was one of only nine players in the PBC to collect 20 or more kills in a single match, which she did against Francis Marion with 20. She totaled 243 digs, five solo blocks, 41 total blocks and a team-best 369 points.

Montevallo, USC Aiken and Flagler each added two players to the squad while Armstrong Atlantic contributed one.

Head coach Jeff Billington has added five newcomers to the squad, including three freshmen and two transfers, along with nine returners to compline the team for the current season.

The Black and Gold will open up its 2011 regular season on September 2 when the Lady Braves travel to the Francis Marion Invitational to face region rival Carson-Newman at 3 p.m. in Florence, S.C.
