Cross Countrys Sem Named UNCP Athlete Of The Week
PEMBROKE – After registering a new
personal record time of 24:24.16 in helping the Lady Braves take
top honors at the Braves Cross Country Invitational on Saturday
morning at Luther Britt Park, sophomore Annette Sem has
been named this week's UNCP Athlete of the Week, athletic
department officials announced Monday.
Sem, a Hope Mills native, finished just less than 11 seconds off
the pace set by Coker's Kendyl Seawright en route to finishing
second behind the three-time all-region performer for the Cobras.
Sem's finish at the event bested her 2010 PBC Championship meet
time of 24:28.93 by more than four seconds and marked the second
top-5 finish of her collegiate career.
A second team all-conference selection as a freshman in 2009, Sem
paced the Lady Braves in all seven of their competitions last
season, including a first place team showing at the Mount Olive
Invitational on Oct. 9, 2009, where Sem produced a 20:52 5K en
route to second place individual medalist laurels.
