PEMBROKE – Visiting Mount Olive hit .257 from the net but committed 20 service aces, while the UNC Pembroke volleyball team used a big defensive presence at the net logging 10 blocks to outlast the Trojans 3-2 (25-18, 25-20, 17-25, 14-25, 15-13) in a key Conference Carolinas matchup on Saturday afternoon at Lumbee Guaranty Bank Court. 
 
The victory for the Braves marked the fourth straight win against the Trojans, and was the second five set contest in the last two meetings. The setback for UMO marked the first league loss of the season.

MATCH REPLAY
SET 1 I 25-18	UNC Pembroke took 18-14 lead with a kill from Shannon Skryd midway through the opening set. Mount Olive closed the deficit, 21-18 with a kill from Sam Widelski, but the Trojans committed five service errors to help the Braves seal the opening set.
SET 2 I 25-20	UMO went on a 4-0 scoring run to take a 17-15 lead with service ace from Sam Widelski. UNCP responded with five straight points to take a 20-17 lead, and hit .500 from the net to take a two set lead.
SET 3 I 17-25	An ill-timed UNC Pembroke attack error put Mount Olive ahead 12-8. The hosts struggled to find an offensive rhythm hitting -.160 at the net, while hit .231 at the net to take the set.
SET 4 I 14-25	UNCP took an early 9-7 advantage after an attack error from Mount Olive. The Trojans got red-hot and went on an 11-1 run to take the lead for good fueled by hitting .522 at the net for the set.
SET 5 I 15-13	The Trojans knotted the score at 5-5 with a kill from Sam Widelski. UMO hit .500 in the final set, while UNCP hit .385, but a 7-2 run sparked the Black & Gold offense to take control of the final set.
