Athletics Department Hosts Hurricane Matthew Relief Drive

PEMBROKE – The UNC Pembroke athletics department has partnered with the UNCP chapter of the Association of Nursing Students (ANS) to host a relief drive to aid in the recovery efforts of Hurricane Matthew, department officials announced Friday.

The drive, which started on November 10 and runs through November 22, is being hosted in the administrative office suite of the English E. Jones Center.

"I want to thank our SAAC President Morgan Sheehan and all our team reps for taking the lead on identifying another opportunity to assist Hurricane victims," said UNCP director of athletics Dick Christy. "This partnership with Nursing will have an immediate impact in our area."

Each UNCP athletic program has a box that is labeled to deposit these items into during this time period. The team with the most items at the conclusion of the drive will receive an assorted gift basket from ANS and a Bojangles Tailgate on behalf of the athletics department.

Donated items such as canned goods, non-perishable food items, bottled water, shampoo/conditioner, soap, deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, lotion and baby wipes will be accepted.

Please join in the relief effort to help uplift and support our community by providing a donation during this holiday season.
