AUGUSTA, Ga. – A blistering performance at the plate that helped lead the UNC Pembroke baseball team to a series win over defending Mountain East Conference champion Shepherd has earned senior outfielder
Nick Debo his first career Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week honor, the league office announced Tuesday.
Debo, a Durham native, hit .700 (7-for-10) with four extra-base hits (1 HR) and three RBI over three weekend starts, while also registering a .786 on-base percentage and 1.300 slugging percentage (2.086 OPS). He also drew a pair of walks, was hit by pitch twice and recorded a stolen base as well.
The slugger began his weekend by doubling three times and scoring once on a 3-for-4 showing in the opener, and then singled three times and reached base via a bean ball on a perfect 3-for-3 hitting line in game two of the series with the Rams. Debo walked, homered and scored twice to highlight a 1-for-3 day at the plate in Sunday's finale at Sammy Cox Field.
Debo and the Braves (2-1) took to the road to battle Pfeiffer on Tuesday.
