INDIANAPOLIS
– Sporting an automatic berth for the first time in program history by virtue of bringing home the Peach Belt Conference Tournament championship trophy earlier in the day, the 24th-ranked UNC Pembroke men's basketball team learned of its path in the NCAA Tournament on Sunday evening.

Winners of a program-best 10-straight games, the third-seeded Braves (24-7) will pack up their show and head to Charlotte this weekend for the Queens-hosted NCAA Southeast Regional inside the Levine Center. UNCP will battle sixth-seeded Limestone (26-5) in Saturday's opening round. Tipoff times and ticket information will be announced on Monday.

Saturday's quarterfinal round matchup will mark UNCP's fourth NCAA Tournament appearance in the last six years. The Braves achieved the program's first postseason berth in 2010-11, and subsequently qualified in 2012-13 and 2014-15 as well. The Black & Gold picked up its first NCAA Tournament victory in their last appearance, ironically, with an 89-82 triumph over PBC rival Columbus State.

The Black & Gold is one of three league teams set to begin play in the NCAA Southeast Regional this weekend. Fourth-seeded Columbus State (20-9) will take on fifth-seeded Augusta (23-7) in the opening round as well. Other quarterfinal matchups include seventh-seeded Pfeiffer (26-4) taking on second-seeded and fourth-ranked Lincoln Memorial (26-5). Top-seeded and seventh-ranked Queens (27-3) will face conference rival Wingate (20-10) on Saturday as well.

Queens earned an automatic bid into the postseason thanks to Sunday's 75-72 victory over Lincoln Memorial in the championship game of the South Atlantic Conference Tournament. Limestone earned an automatic bid as well by virtue of a 76-70 triumph over King in the Conference Carolinas Tournament championship game.
