PEMBROKE – Former Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) legends Bobby Cremins, Les Robinson and Eric Montross headlined a record-breaking night for the Fifth Annual Cash Bash presented by Southeastern Health that raised more than $95,000 toward the Braves Club general scholarship fund.
The event welcomed a record 415 attendees as the former UNC Chapel Hill basketball standout, as well as the former Georgia Tech and NC State basketball coaches, shared stories about their illustrious careers both on and off the court.
To date, the annual event has generated more than $315,000 for student-athlete scholarships and the University's 16 varsity athletic programs.
"You can't say enough about the way our donors have rallied around this event and made it a signature event on their calendar," said director of athletics
Dick Christy. "I appreciate all of the collaboration from Advancement and endless other staff to make this the largest fundraiser in the history of the University."
During the night, several items were sold during silent and live auctions, including VIP athletic experiences donated by Duke and NC State, a basketball signed by Houston head coach and UNCP alum Kelvin Sampson, and a NASCAR Hall of Fame Experience.
All of the proceeds from the event helps UNCP's more than 400 student-athletes. The Sixth Annual Cash Bash is scheduled for April 19, 2018 inside the English E. Jones Center.
