Fund-raising Efforts Surpassed Again At Sixth Annual Cash Bash

April 30, 2018

PEMBROKE – A Toast To Dan Kenney was the focus of a record-breaking night for the Sixth Annual Cash Bash presented by Scotland Health that raised more than $105,000 toward the Braves Club general scholarship fund.

The event welcomed a record 445 attendees as the former UNC Pembroke men's basketball head coach and athletics director was honored, while those closest to him along the path of his illustrious career shared admiration, and sometimes humorous, stories about their enthusiastic friend, colleague and father.

To date, the annual event has generated more than $420,000 for student-athlete scholarships and the University's 16 varsity athletic programs.

"Our donors know the importance of this event to our student-athletes, and it has shown in their commitment and support at Cash Bash," said athletics director Dick Christy. "I'm very thankful for the athletics and advancement staffs that have really worked to make this event better and better every year."

During the night, several items were sold during silent and live auctions, including VIP athletic experiences donated by UNC-Chapel Hill and NC State, as well as tickets to the NASCAR Coca-Cola 600 and the NASCAR Monster Energy All-Star Race.

All of the proceeds from the event helps UNCP's more than 400 student-athletes. The Seventh Annual Cash Bash is scheduled for April 19, 2019 inside the English E. Jones Center.

"Thank you to our title sponsor Scotland Health, as well as our table sponsors and guests, for making the 2018 Cash Bash a tremendous success," said assistant athletics director Adam Hardin, who also serves as the director of the Braves Club. "This year's festive format made for an exciting evening, all in support of UNCP student-athletes. We plan to provide even more ways for our guests to have fun and enjoy each other's company at next year's Cash Bash."
