PEMBROKE – After a tough first go round
in their tri-match, the UNCP women's volleyball team rebounded with
a strong effort against Elizabeth City State, and defeated the Lady
Vikings by a 3-0 final on Saturday at the English E. Jones Center
in Pembroke. Game scores for the match were 25-9, 25-23 and
25-13.
The Lady Braves (15-7, 4-4 PBC) halted the efforts of the CIAA
leaders with a .159 attack percentage compared to -.052 by the Lady
Vikings (16-5, 14-0 CIAA). UNCP registered nine service aces on the
afternoon while limiting ECSU to just two during the matchup.
For the second-straight match UNCP was led in kills by junior
Tiara
Anderson, who finished with nine on the afternoon
behind a strong .364 attack percentage. Rebecca Morgan was next on the UNCP
stat sheet with seven kills and also added nine digs on the
defensive side of the net.
Sophomore Morgan
Ridge led the squad with 18 assists while contributing
seven digs, and junior Heather Bolwerk registered 11 assists
of her own and two service aces.
Senior Caitlin
Haworth led the defense with 13 digs and added two
kills on offense.
UNCP will be back in action on Wednesday when they host the
Francis Marion Patriots in a PBC clash at the English E. Jones
Center in Pembroke. Start time for the match is scheduled for 7:00
p.m.
