Athletic Communications

The UNCP Athletic Communications Office is available to assist you with coverage of Braves athletic teams. Assistant Athletic Director Morgan Sheehan and Assistant Athletic Communications Director Alex Pearce will be happy to serve you during the athletic season. The Athletic Communications Office is located inside the English E. Jones Center (Room 1212) just off of the east lobby of the state-of-the-art facility.

For information regarding credentials, interviews, statistics, press conferences, etc., please call the Athletic Communications Office (910) 775-4353, visit UNCPBraves.com or contact Sheehan or Pearce with the information listed below. To assist you during the season, please take time to read the media information found on this page. Briefly, interviews must be arranged through the athletic communications office at least one day in advance. All UNCP practices are closed to the media without prior notification given to Sheehan.

NEW STUDENT-ATHLETES
All new UNCP student-athletes, including transfers, are required to fill out a UNCP student-athlete questionnaire so that the athletic communications office can keep an accurate record of your time as a Brave. Click here to download the new student-athlete questionnaire. When completed, please fax (910-521-6540) or mail questionnaire, along with head and shoulders photo of yourself to:

MEDIA GUIDELINES
Credentials: Because space is limited in the press box and press row at UNCP athletic events, working space is allotted on the following basis: (1) daily newspaper writers covering for next day publication; (2) sports editors of North Carolina daily newspapers; (3) radio/television personnel for broadcast originations; (4) official school student daily newspaper and television personnel; (5) approved special coverage; (6) press and TV working photographers; (7) weekly press representatives; non-originating radio representatives of AM news stations; and Internet writers for sites affiliated with established, nationally recognized media outlets will be considered on a game-by-game basis as space allows. Visiting freelance and amateur photographers are not eligible for media credentials, except by approval of Sheehan.

Media Access: Jones Center access for the media is at the entrance in the west lobby of the facility. Press row is located across from the chairback seats behind the south side seating. Per special request, seating may be granted at or near the scorer's table, or along the south sideline of the playing surface.

Interview Policy: During the season, UNCP's coaches are available for in person media interviews prior to practice, but such interviews must be coordinated in advance through the ACO at least one day in advance. UNCP student-athletes are available for interviews in person through the same manner. Interviews done with UNCP's student-athletes must be properly coordinated through Sheehan or Pearce at least one day in advance. Telephone interviews will be granted under special circumstances. No in-person interviews with players or coaches will be granted on game day before the athletic contest takes place. No interviews are to be conducted in the locker room, training room or weight room. Interviews with assistant coaches must be arranged in advance through the Athletic Communications Office as well. Redshirting players are not required to do interviews. All interview requests for UNCP staff and players must be made at least one day in advance.

Postgame Interviews: Following the standard 10-minute cooling off period, UNCP head coaches and/or student-athletes will be available for interviews at prearranged sites at the various home athletic venues. Please note for all UNC Pembroke athletic events, both home and away, UNCP locker rooms are closed to the media. For road contests, please make your interview requests for coaches and players through the UNCP athletic communications office or the host SID and they will be brought to the prearranged interview area.

Game Services: Complete team and individual statistics are provided to the media following each UNC Pembroke home contest. Telephone, copy machine and fax services are also available. The UNCP Athletic Communications staff is available to assist you with any fax or copy requests that you may have at each home event.

Conference Carolinas Services: Statistics, league standings and other information for all Conference Carolinas teams and the league as a whole are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week exclusively on the world wide web at www.ConferenceCarolinas.com.

Facility Use Restrictions: The University of North Carolina at Pembroke has an interest in protecting its facilities, property and reputation associated with its intercollegiate sports. Therefore, no person shall be permitted to access or use the arenas, facilities and other UNCP intercollegiate athletic venues without first securing the permission of the Athletics Director or his/her designee. The only exception is an individual who records an image (e.g. photograph, videotape) for his/her non-commercial personal use. In no case shall any person be permitted to use these venues for the purposes of promoting the sale or manufacture of alcohol or tobacco or the promotion of any venture associated directly or indirectly with legal or illegal gaming or gambling.
