UNCP Athletics

The purpose of the University of North Carolina at Pembroke Athletics Hall of Fame is to honor those former student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and teams who have demonstrated exceptional athletic achievements and strength of character, in representing UNC Pembroke in the various areas of athletic performance, coaching and/or administration.

Nominations shall be accepted from the general public and members of the election committee through a standard nomination form, as well as an internal recommendation of candidates with multiple qualifying criteria via the Athletic Communications Department. Nominations submitted after the published deadline will be tabled until the following year. Nominees shall remain eligible for five years and, if not elected in that period of time, must be re-nominated for further consideration.

A maximum of six (6) individuals shall be elected in a given year. The election of a team or unit (e.g. tennis doubles team, swimming relay team) shall count as one (1) against the maximum number of annual inductees. Consideration will be given to the number of male and female inductees and the number of inductees by sport in each annual induction class.

The nomination acceptance period will span the entire calendar year, but April 30 is the cutoff date for candidates to be considered during the next regularly schedule committee meeting. Nominations may be submitted by anyone able to support the nomination during the nomination period, but only complete nomination packets will be reviewed by the Athletics Hall of Fame Committee. Complete nomination packets will be considered for the current induction year and the next five
induction years. Nominations must be received by the published deadline by using the online nomination form.

• If updates are needed for materials that have already been submitted, those materials must be mailed prior to the deadline each subsequent year in order for that new information to be considered.
• Following the fifth year that a complete nomination packet is in consideration, a new and complete nomination packet must be submitted for the nominee.
