The UNCP volleyball team (18-8, 5-4 PBC) will return to Peach
Belt Conference action on Tuesday with a matchup against Augusta
State (9-18, 2-9 PBC) in Augusta, Ga. at 7:00 p.m.
The Lady Braves head into the matchup on the heels of a great
string of matches last week where they finished 3-1, including a
3-1 win over PBC foe Francis Marion on Wednesday. UNCP is now 10-4
in their last 14 matches dating back to a dramatic 3-2 victory over
USC Aiken on Sept. 25 in Aiken, S.C., a run that has them currently
eighth in the Southeast Region standings.
UNCP is 4-2 in conference matches during that stretch, and have
four athletes averaging over 2.30 kills per set during the span in
Allie
Schneider (2.85), Rebecca Morgan (2.70) and Tiara
Anderson (2.38), as well as freshman Madison
Greiner (2.40), who has impressed lately with a .400
attack percentage. Morgan leads the squad with 218 kills on
the year, while Anderson currently sits second in the category,
needing just three kills to eclipse the 200-mark for the
season.
The Jaguars have lost seven out of their last 10 matches, and lost
their conference opener to UNCP in the first matchup of the season
between the two schools back on Sept. 15 by a 3-1 final in
Pembroke. UNCP currently holds an 18-17 record in the all-time
series against ASU, and snapped a three-match losing streak to the
Jaguars with their win earlier this season.
