SALISBURY, N.C. – The UNCP volleyball
team ran into strong hitting by the host Catawba Indians Tuesday,
and were not able to overcome ten service errors in falling 3-0 in
nonconference volleyball action. The Lady Braves (11-6, 3-3 PBC)
lost their sixth game of the season via scores 26-28, 14-25 and
12-25.
Catawba (7-8, 2-5 SAC) finished with a .320 team hitting
percentage compared to .157 by UNCP. The Lady Braves, one of the
best blocking teams in the region, were limited to just 3.0 blocks
in the match, and Catawba finished with a .670 sideout percentage
compared to .45 by UNCP.
Allie Schneider led the team in kills with 11
while also adding six digs defensively and Tiara Anderson recorded eight kills to finish second on the
squad. Heather Bolwerk finished with 22
assists and Marissa Baker led the defensive effort
with 15 digs.
UNCP returns home on Thursday to host Fayetteville State in a
nonconference matchup with a start time scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at
the English E. Jones Center in Pembroke.
