GREENWOOD, S.C. – Aaron Brittain scored a pair of first half goals, and then registered an assist on an additional score in the second period, as second-seeded Lander ousted seventh-seeded UNCP from the Peach Belt Conference Tournament with a 4-1 win over the Braves on Tuesday evening at Bearcat Field.

The setback officially signaled the end of the 2010 campaign for UNCP (5-9-4) who will bid farewell to just two seniors – midfielder Andrew Brown and defender Connor O'Boyle – heading into year two of the Phil Hindson era in 2011. With the victory, Lander (12-6-0) advanced through to Friday's semifinal round where it will face third-seeded Flagler.

"We have made a lot of progress this season, but we really let ourselves down tonight," Hindson said. "There is a lot of work ahead for the coaching staff and players to attain the level that is required to be successful in this conference."

Stuart Rodgers scored UNCP's lone goal of the night, while fellow newcomer Paul Freeman was credited with his third assist of the campaign. Brittain, the 2008 PBC Player of the Year, paved the way offensively for the hosts with his performance, while Jamie Davison bagged a pair of assists on the evening as well. The Braves got a four-save outing from goalkeeper Ryan Hanson, with Lander netminder Scott Playle registering one save on five UNCP shots.

The Braves fell to 6-20-2 all-time against the Bearcats, including a 6-2-1 advantage in the postseason.

Lander needed just 68 seconds off the game clock to grab the early 1-0 lead as Brittain used a perfect service from teammate Andy Ludewig to redirect a header past Hanson. Brittain struck again in the 20th minute, this time taking a pass from Davison before connecting with the back of the net.

The Braves chipped away at their deficit with Rodgers' goal 55 seconds before intermission, but the Bearcats tallied a pair of second half insurance goals – the first coming off Craig Hughes' foot in the 59th tick and the second coming in the 78th minute on Andy Ludewig's goal.
