Box Score FLORENCE, S.C. – UNCP senior Chris Hargrove notched 18 points and his teammates once again out-rebounded the opponent for the fourth game in a row in leading UNCP to a nonconference victory over Coker by a 72-65 final on Saturday at the Zaxby's Tip-Off Clazzic in Florence, S.C.
The Braves (3-1, 0-0 PBC) used a an 8-1 run over the last 2:55 of the game to secure their weekend sweep after having earned an 85-68 victory over St. Andrews the night before.
The Braves offense was led by Hargrove, who notched his 18 points on 8 of 12 shooting from the floor while also adding six rebounds and three assists in 35 minutes of action.
Sophomores Shahmel Brackett and K.J. Cooper each notched 14 points for UNCP in the win, with Cooper finishing 3 of 5 from 3-point range and Brackett finishing 5 of 11 from the floor while picking off four Coker passes on defense.
UNCP returns to action on Tuesday when they open up Peach Belt Conference play with a matchup at Lander in Greenwood, S.C. at 7:30 p.m.
