Diamond Braves Crack Top 25

TUCSON, Ariz. – Coming off a perfect 5-0 week that saw it grab a road win at Barton, as well as a four-game weekend sweep of Bloomfield at Sammy Cox Field, the UNCP baseball team jumped six spots in the latest national rankings before settling in at No. 21 in the Collegiate Baseball Magazine NCAA Division II Top 30 Poll, the organization announced late Monday evening.

Currently riding a seven-game winning streak, UNCP (8-1) is one of three Peach Belt Conference squads ranked in the listing this week, joining Francis Marion (3rd) and Georgia College (29th) in the distinguished listing. Florida Southern leapfrogged Southern Arkansas to overtake the top spot in the ranking this week. Three other league squads – North Georgia, USC Aiken and Armstrong Atlantic – received recognition in the "also receiving votes” section.

The Braves will open up a four-game road trip on Wednesday when they make the short trek to Misenheimer to battle region foe Pfeiffer (5-8) in a 2 p.m. contest at Joe Ferebee Field. UNCP will open up PBC play this weekend at North Georgia (6-4).
