CHARLESTON, W. VA. – The UNCP volleyball
team improved their season win total to six with a sweep of two
matches at the University of Charleston Invitational Saturday in
Charleston, W. Va. The Lady Braves earned a five set victory
over West Virginia Wesleyan before defeating West Liberty in
straight sets.
The victories improve the UNCP record to 6-2 overall on the
season. They finished the UC Invitational with a record of
3-1 this weekend, and finished the Francis Marion Invite last
weekend with a 3-1 record as well.
They opened the second day with a matchup against West Virginia
Wesleyan and took a victory in five sets via scores of 25-23,
18-25, 25-12, 19-25 and 15-1.
After their first-match victory, UNCP kept the momentum going in
their matchup against West Liberty. This time they took just
three sets to get the win with scores of 25-14, 25-13 and 25-16,
winning in dominating fashion.
UNCP will next be in action on Wednesday, September 15, when they
host Augusta State in their home and Peach Belt Conference opener
at 7:00 p.m. in the English E. Jones Center.
