PEMBROKE – The UNCP women's volleyball team attempted a comeback forcing the match with Flagler into five sets, but the Saints proved to be too much for the Lady Braves as the Saints captured the 3-2 victory on Saturday afternoon in the English E. Jones Center. 

Dianna Craine and Abby Meyers shared a game-high 17 kills, while Rachel Stacey slammed down 10 kills for the Saints (18-6, 8-1 PBC). Senior Rebecca Morgan led the offense for the Lady Braves (11-14, 3-6) with 13 kills, while Shay Peterson collected eight.

The Saint took game one in a hurried fashion with a score of 25-15, but the Lady Braves started the comeback momentum at the 15-15 mark in game two, and controlled the lead until the score was tied at 24-24. UNCP pulled out a 31-29 win in the second game to tie the match up at one game apiece.

Flagler again returned to the court with dominance and took game three with a 25-13 score, until the Lady Braves took the lead at the beginning in game four and finished with a 25-22 win. Flagler held onto game five with for the 15-11 victory to deliver the overall win.

UNCP was held to a .089 hitting percentage while Flagler posted a .214 hitting percentage. Setter Ashlyn Rebok dished out 47 assists, while libero Marissa Baker led the team with 34 digs. UNCP totaled six blocks and four service aces during the match.

The Lady Braves will regroup over the weekend and prepare for their upcoming matchup with conference opponent USC Aiken (11-12, 4-4) on Friday at 7 p.m. in the Convocation Center in Aiken, S.C.
