AUGUSTA, Ga. – Two-time defending Peach Belt Conference Tournament Champion Flagler used strong performances in the first and third sets along with a come-from-behind rally in the second to take a 3-0 victory over UNCP in the semifinal round of the PBC Tournament on Saturday at Christenberry Fieldhouse in Augusta, Ga.

Game scores for the match were 16-25, 25-27 and 12-25.

The Saints (27-6) have now won all eight PBC Tournament games they have competed in since joining the league for the 2009 season. Third-seeded Flagler advances to face top-seeded Armstrong Atlantic State in Sunday's championship game. 

UNCP (16-16) now must await their fate when the NCAA announces the NCAA Tournament field during the 2011 NCAA Tournament Selection Show on Sunday night at 10 p.m. on NCAA.com.

Flagler stormed out of the gates during the first set with a blistering .576 hitting percentage on 33 attacks while UNCP hit .219 as a squad. 

UNCP jumped out to a 7-3 lead in the second set and pushed their lead out to 17-14 though the course of the set. They maintained a three-point lead until they were ahead by a 23-20 score but Flagler rallied back to tie the set up at 23-23. Points were traded back-and-forth to push the score out to 25-25, but kills by Dianna Craine and Sophie Meyer ended the game at 25-27.

Flagler used a stretch where it recorded 12 of 14 points to rush out to a 16-8 lead before cruising to a 25-12 victory.

UNCP was led by junior Shay Peterson who recorded seven kills during the match on a .500 hitting percentage while senior Tricia Varno added six kills on a .312 attack percentage. 

Ashlyn Rebok recorded 25 assists and nine digs – narrowly missing her fourth-consecutive double-double – while also added one block assist.

Sophomore Marissa Baker led the UNCP back line with 17 digs while Varno also led the front line with three blocks.
