Box Score AUGUSTA, Ga. – Third-ranked Augusta State went wild from the perimeter on Monday evening and used an 11-2 run through the last three minutes of the first half to pull away from UNCP by a 73-54 final on Monday evening at Christenberry Fieldhouse in Augusta, Ga.
The Braves (14-8, 7-7 PBC) were just 3-of-15 (20.0 percent) from behind the 3-point line while the host Jaguars (21-2, 11-2 PBC) finished 11-of-23 (47.8 percent). The Jaguars also doubled the number of made free throws by UNCP, 18-9.
The win was the 43rd-straight for the Jaguars at home, and they have won the last 17 matchups against UNCP. ASU head coach Dip Metress earned his 299th career victory with the win.
Junior Nathan Priest led the Braves with 10 points on 3-of-5 shooting, including a 4-of-4 effort from the free throw line.
Senior Chris Hargrove added nine points and six rebounds while junior Mike Robinson and sophomore George Blakeney each added six points and seven rebounds.
Sophomore Shahmel Brackett scored eight points, but was just 3-of-14 from the floor in the loss.
UNCP will look to rebound on Saturday when they travel to Dahlonega, Ga., to battle North Georgia in a PBC cross-divisional matchup.
