OMAHA, Neb. – Having already played a key role in the UNCP baseball team's run to the NCAA postseason in 2011, right-hander Braxton Lewis continued to add to his list of accomplishments on Friday morning as the junior was one of 36 players nationwide to be named to the inaugural College Baseball Lineup DII All Star Team, the online magazine announced.

Lewis, a Seven Springs product, is one of just two players from the Peach Belt Conference on the distinguished list, joining Francis Marion right-hander and PBC Pitcher of the Year honoree Don Sandifer of Francis Marion as one of 15 pitchers on the team. Limestone's Joe Maloney, Wingate's Dodson McPherson and Mount Olive's Michael Knox and Carter Capps are the only other region players to make the list as well.

Lewis, a first team all-PBC selection and PBC Tournament Most Valuable Player, has not allowed a run (earned or unearned) in 42-2/3 innings of relief work this season while recording a 6-0 record with a 0.00 ERA, nine saves and a pair of combined shutouts. He has struck out 46 batters over his 24 relief appearances and has walked just four batters over his last 34-2/3 innings of work. He has surrendered just 12 hits in as many appearances (21.1 innings) against conference foes this season and has retired the sides in order in 16 innings from the hill in 2011.
